Concept:We had the opportunity to design for Midea, the world’s largest appliance company. I worked
on this project with Communication Designer Valmira Shyti and Product Designer Edem Eminov. We were tasked with solving design solutions for a smart dishwasher interface with a design outlook of 5 years in
the future. Each team was assigned a specific audience to solve for, where we each had specific challeneges and perspectives unqiue to each group. Our team (Team Beaver) was solving towards a wheelchair bound
user in their mid 30s with no smart home technology. Our main focus included factoring accessibility into
our design. We also had to keep in mind the simplicity of our design, since this user was unfamiliar with smart home objects.
Meet the Beacon: A detatchable interface for a smart dishwasher, specifically designed for someone who is wheelchair bound. It’s portable feature allows for easy access in any room of the house, for instant updates regarding your wash cycle. It uses ai to scan dishes and problem solve the easiest method to get them clean in an efficent time. This interface focuses on light to get information across in a non-disruptive way.
id needs.
